Hilton Norfolk The Main Reviews

I was very excited to go to the Christmas Brunch and food was good. I understand that it was a holiday and that there was probably a short staff but to have one person manning an entire side of the restaurant was a little short sighted. After about 15 minutes after being seated I was informed that we had a 1-1/2 hour limit (which would have been fine if our drink orders had been taken by then). After eating and being attended to by an overworked server (Myron) who was trying his best to keep up, I asked for a refill on my $4 coffee for the road. He went to get a refill which took about 20 minutes due to the coffee maker being refilled. I was then approached by the hostess who told us that we had to leave because someone needs our table. I would have been fine with this request if she had asked if there was anything else that we needed but instead it was with a condescending tone. I informed her that I was still waiting on my coffee refill and that my time wasn’t even up yet. She made a face and I’m assuming that she walked off to find the server. Had I received my coffee 20 minutes earlier the table would have been open then (just like the two open tables behind us). By that time I had already left an additional tip besides the one that was included on my bill because I wanted to award the server who worked his butt off. The hostess ruined my whole vibe with her attitude. I understand that it was Christmas Day and maybe she didn’t want to be at work but I was always told that this was a very nice upscale restaurant. This could have been handled better. Hoping that a follow up visit might turn out better if I decide to visit again.

Great spot for food and drinks

Rooftop bar in Norfolk experience was great, we went before our Holiday experience on the USS Wisconsin which is a five minute walk near the water. Okay, the Grain had a great happy hour with just drinks (no food apart of happy hour, this is why it isn't a five star review). The drinks were great, the bartenders were very knowledgeable about beers on tap and different drinks that I may like. I think I had the Grain Royale, very excellent holiday drink if you are not much of a beer person. My chicken sandwich was one of the best I've ever had, extra crispy and huge with the pretzel bun. I love chicken sandwiches and I would put it in my top three :) Seating was a bit hit or miss. Because we were there during happy hour we sat at the bar, but the first ten minutes of being there we kind of wandered around because it says seat yourself, but everywhere we wanted to sit said, "no waiter in this area". And the bar was already a bit full at 4:00pm, we finally squeezed in some seats. Totally not their fault. I understand there is a worker shortage and hopefully we can soon overcome this.

Great location with easy access to parking. The food is always delish and Kaylee provides the best service. You can't beat the elegant atmosphere. My favorite happy hour spot.

Mark at the Saltine bar is awesome, staff is always friendly and attentive. Love staying here
