Pay the Money!! It's worth it
I've stayed at all hotels in downtown Norfolk. This was our first time at the Main! No competition! Staff...great, location....great, room...awesome....Parking...great. We have no complaints and in fact our daughter has been accepted at Norfolk State University to begin Fall 2020....we plan to stay only at the Main!

Christmas at the Presidential Suite
I booked a night here for Christmas and was highly pleased with the presidential suite. It was breath taking and was at a great value, especially for the Holidays. Thank you Hilton for always providing the exceptional service and triumphing over the competition

The place to stay in Norfolk
The hotel has the best location in all of Norfolk - right on Granby Street. It certainlly has a big city, sophisticated feel to it. The room was spacious and clean. Executive Lounge was good, lots of choices, but a pay-as-you-go bar. Hotel staff were very friendly. Terrific restaurants on location. I recommend this property

Lemons and Matresses
Sitting at the bar in Varia (amazing pizza made by an amazing man) I noticed the bartender peeling lemons, saving the peels (to make homemade lemoncello) and throwing the lemons in the garbage. Asking about this he said that they only save them in the mornings when the kitchen staff squeeze them for the day. Any peeled at night go in the trash! This disturbs me. If you can't take the time to squeeze the lemons after peeling them, at least save them for a soup kitchen, or compost them, or use them for cleaning rooms. Lemons are great for a variety of things and should not be thrown away. I love Hilton properties for the most part, even the Hampton Inn and the Garden Inn. However, I had to pull a blanket out of the closet to sleep on the couch cushions because the mattress was so hard. It was like sleeping on the floor! I noticed this at the Garden Inn Virginia Beach and was surprised that The Main had the same mattresses. I was expecting a lovely night's sleep and was disappointed and uncomfortable to the point where I had to sleep on the couch. Whatever happened to "DreamCloud"? Here's a business suggestion... The Executive Level rooms should have fancier mattresses (maybe SleepNumber?)... This would be a great up-sell. I'd pay extra for a better bed...just sayin'
