Hilton Norfolk The Main Reviews

This is a beautiful hotel. Room was fine, nice staff working, however after returning home I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. Yesterday (March 30th) on our way back from being out I stopped into The Grain to get my son an order of banana pudding. They was PACKED. So I was told I had to go up to the bar to order which was not an easy task as packed as it was. Personally I think any server could have helped me but anyway. I finally made it over to the bar a male bartender with long hair pulled back (very nice) waited on me gave me the bill (a lousy $11.70) and I gave him $15, a $10 bill and a $5 bill. He was very appreciative of the tip. Told me to go to other side of the bar he would find me to give it to me. Another not so easy thing to do as there was hundreds of people in there (literally). After waiting almost 30 minutes (remember this was only pudding) I waived down a manager told him it had been 30 minutes already. He said let me go check for you, in less then a minute he came right out with it and explained they didn’t know where I was. Well I was right where the bartender told me to go, other side of bar near the steps. Ok that’s that. Now today I’m home clearing emails and seen a final bill email I was going to just trash it but wanted to make sure get charged me for my parking. They did, AND for the banana pudding that I already paid cash for. It’s not the amount. Keep in mind I just spent almost $700 for the 3 nights, the night before I spent $85 in same restaurant (The Grain) and now you charge me (bartender) for something in my bill that I just paid you cash for and tipped you. I’m NOT happy about this at all!!!!

Go to Brunch from now on. I knew they had brunch, but I didn't realize it was like that 🫡

Hotel is very nice and in a great spot. We were near water and able to see Naval yard and across the Chesapeake. Several restaurant options in hotel and around streets. Room was nice. I will say I was not a fan of the frosted glass bathroom door. There was a mirror light we couldn’t turn off and it shined all night long. I do not do well with lights while trying to sleep. Parking was easy and cost $20 bucks for unlimited access for the day. We got free upgrade for being Diamond members. That’s about only perk though which was a little disappointing. We have had more perks at a Hampton Inn, which is a little sad knowing the Hilton brand hierarchy. Nevertheless we would definitely stay again. I would say bring your own pillow if you can cause the pillows are like 50lb bags on concrete. Ok, slight exaggeration but not the best.
